Location

 

It is a colorful colonial city with beautiful and charming neighborhoods. Strategically located between Merida and Cancun (at only two hour drive from each destination); 40 kilometers from Chichen Itza (one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World) and 26 miles from the Mayan archaeological site of Ek Balam. It is only  within an hour and a half drive from  the Riviera Maya, as well as near from other tourist routes such as: to the North, Las Coloradas, Rio Lagartos and San Felipe, to  the east, the archaeological site of Coba and the Mexican Caribbean, to  the west, Merida, the State capital, and Izamal (Magical Town of Mexico)..

 

Climate

 

There are basically two different climates: warm along the coastline, and warm subhumid with summer rains in the rest of the state. The average temperature is between 25 and 35 ° C., with slightly cooler temperatures in winter.

 

Tips for travelers

 

We recommend that you use comfortable light clothing in light colors, with comfortable, closed shoes at archaeological sites, sandals

for the beach and Cenotes. Biodegradable sunscreen, hats or caps and bottles of water are also a good idea.
